Dr. Wen-Chong Zhao explains application and requirement of speech and hearing areas in Taiwan

Dr. Wen-Chong Zhao, an Attending physician in Department of Pediatric Neurology and Chief of the Department of Child Development and Psychological Health Center at Puli Christian Hospital, gave a speech on The Application and Requirement for Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology area in Taiwan to the Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.
Dr. Zhao began by explaining the relation between language and audiology and speech-language pathology to help students understand the definitions of the two. The explanations broaden students’ horizon in terms of how human brain processes lexicons and manages messages. Zhao emphasized that mankind begins language learning with concept building, and then move on to code-findings. For instance, the actual object “apple” needs to be in sight first in order to be coded as the word apple.
“The left and right left and right hemispheres of the brain are responsible for processing different messages as a result of the differences during myelination,” Zhao stated.
Dr. Zhao further applied students’ to workplaces in speech and hearing, providing students potential directions in career development, as well as assisting students to obtain clearer understandings of these areas during the Q&A session.
