DASLP visits the Chinese Medical University Hospital
The faculty and students of Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (DASLP) visited the Department of Otolaryngology, the Department of Rehabilitation Services, and the Voice and Swallowing Center at the China Medical University Hospital (CMUH) on November 18, 2016, to facilitate students’ understanding and insight in clinical work.
A large portion of students expressed that the CMUH visit was a very unforgettable and amazing experience, especially in “making theories learned in classes come to life.”
Students also stated that on-site observation and visit gave them an excellent opportunity to witness the responsibilities of audiologists (AUD) and speech-language pathologists (SLP), which would be useful references when it comes to choosing their own career path in the future.
The visit would have been impossible without the immense support from CMUH. DASLP would like to express our sincere gratitude for the strong support and assistance from Ming Hsui Tsai, the Vice Superintendent of Cancer Center at CMUH; Nai-Hsin Meng, the Director of Rehabilitation Services. We also would like to thank the following medical professionals for their clinical demonstration and professional guidance: Yong-En Zou, the ENT doctor; Ching-Yuan Wang, Chair of the ENT Department; the AUD Team led by Xiu-Juan Wu; the SLP Team of the Department of Rehabilitation led by Hang-Ni Chang, and Xiang-Ling Qiu, the SLP of the ENT Department. Finally, we sincerely appreciate the Case Manager of the ENT Department, Pei-Ru Qiu, for the ongoing and meticulous coordination.
